Dear Brittany,
You sound like a young mum. I think that it is super nice for kids to have a young mum – if she is loving and mature. You can run jump with them and you don’t get so tired and cranky with the kids.
What is worrisome though is that you still sort of live like a single person/ or a person who is not a mother. Motherhood means that you have to eat what is good for your baby and make choices that are in the best interests of your baby. That means that you have to be healthy yourself and smart – because now you are doing a very grown up thing, raising a child.

If you are the best person you can be, you will bring yourself more happiness, better finances, and a child who grow up proud of himself and of his mum. Some drugs are not legal. Being the finest person you can be means that you do not do drugs and nor do your friends. Stay healthy and take care of yourself.
It is time for you to find some mature, law-abiding friends, and to make a really nice home for that baby and yourself. You will feel happier, more beautiful and wealthier. Hope that all goes well for you Brittany. Congratulations on your pregnancy.

not too likely. depends on how far along you are. i don't think there's a tox screen run on someone who seems stable and has had prenatal care. No prenatal care, walking into a hospital in labor and maybe they will run tox screen. Smoking weed is not good, but not as bad a nicotine! Do the right thing and get clean for the sake of a baby. If social services catches on there's a problem or substance abuse, they'll do the tox screen and CPS will be involved -- a messy situation. Defiantely not something you want in the baby book....

Generally when you give birth, they do not need a urine sample from you or run drug tests. But, god-forbid, in the unfortunate event something is wrong, they might do a full lab work-up and see THC. What they about it after that depends on your state laws. Some women get a slap on the wrist and others get their children taken away from them or go on a probationary period where they get drug tested weekly. Either way, it's not worth it. Now, whether or not pot is harmful to a fetus, I'm definitely sure it doesn't do it any good, but it's not as harmful as cigarettes. But just imagine a fetus hot-boxing in a womb...probably not smart. Some women though, as one above I saw, do smoke to get rid of nausea, and I've heard some doctors even "suggest" it, under the table, but never prescribe because of no FDA approval.

When i had my son, they did a urine test on him and it came up positive for marijuana. I smoked my entire pregnancy. DFS came and took my son from the hospital and I didn't get him back for 4 months. That's 4 months of busting my butt to clean myself up, get an apartment, job, car...etc. Yes..odds are, if you get caught, you will get your child taken away from you. My son did NOT have withdrawals or anything like that. His "father" told on me, cuz he was a punk and didn't want anything to do with the baby. They do drug tests on every baby born with state paid health insurance. So, if you are smoking pot while pregnant, I highly suggest stopping now. It isn't worth losing your baby. I found that out the hard way!

I dont know anyone who has gotten in trouble for it--HOWEVER--
It will do ALOT of harm to your baby. I have an older half sister who would always tell me it was "okay" and she smoked every day she was pregnant with my nephew. Sadly, he is one very troubled little boy, he has many many problems because of her stupidity.
Please stop smoking, your baby deserves the best chance at a normal and healthy life.

I smoked weed once every two weeks because of morning sickness. I couldnt keep anything down the whole 9 months unless I smoked. I didnt get into trouble and my baby turned out fine. Her doctors say she is a very smart baby. She hardly ever cried. Started walking and could say 5 words by 8 months old. She broke herself from a bottle and started eating graduate foods by 7 months old. If it wasnt for weed I probably would have lost her from not being able to keep food down.

Yes, it has happened before. Why in gods name would you do something like that? I have seen newborns who were deformed because of THC poisoning (there was a case in Jackson Memorial hospital in Miami about it).

Worry about having a healthy baby, not about if your going to get in trouble!

Just wondering why someone would smoke weed while they are pregnant that's just horrible. I hope people that do get in trouble for it and go to jail for child abuse.
