I know it's a GM 4.3 V6. I don't know if it is a 262, 263 or 265. Is there something on the block that will tell me?

yes, look near the starter on the side of the block, there should be a casting # from GM. Take the casting # to any dealer and have them look up that #. calculation is 61 * 4.3 L = 262.3 so that would be 262 you have to round down unless engine has been rebuilt & bore / hone the block .010 over or .020 oversize pistons & rings... then it would be a 263 or 265 respectfully. :o)

It is a 262. This is basically the V6 version of the Chevy 350.
