u want to shell out 70K for a desk top guy u really are burning money.....
and what all work do u want to do

if u r suggesting just the normal work i mean chatting surfing gamong working etc then i dont think theres any special with any processor but still if u want a HI-FI system and can shell out 100K bucks then i will sugest a best combinations to-date

Processor - Pentium core2 duo or pentium D
Motherboard - Intel 945 original or chipset
RAM - 1GB(512mb X 2 ram sticks)
HDD - 160 GB(or above) Segate or Hitachi or Maxtor
Optical Drive - Lite-on or samsung lightscribe enabled DVD-
writer
Graphics Card - Do get a graphics card some of latest build like
GForce or nVidia
Monitor - A 17" or 19" Flat CRT monitor and i will never
ever suggest you to buy a LCD or Plasma
monitor because they are not as efficient as a
CRT however they looks good feel good but not
as efficient as CRTs
Keyboard - any mechanical keyboard(however a membrane
keyboard looks and feels good but mechanical
lasts longer and are very efficient)
Mouse - any optica laser mouse
Speakers - any 5.1 or 7.1 speakers
Cabinate - many fancy cabinates come these days but buy
one which could give your this rig enough air
supply and do get some extra fans 1Front panel
fan and another real panel extra fan
UPS - any 1000 VA double battery UPS will give u atleast 60-75 minutes backup

and i tell u this machine will not get outdated for atleast next 14 months except your graphics card

and remember do give your graphics card and processor enought cooling solutions and air supply as this rig will get hot enough

buddy, u neednt have to wander for each of the perepherals one by one or scribble out the configuration and eagerly wait to get it assembled. as long as u are ready to shell out Rs.75000 to Rs one lakh, u should preferably go for a branded pc

and the answer is HP Pavallion

HP is a global leader, and u will never hav to worry about the quality and performance. after sale service is also exceptionally good with HP,

All u wanna do is just walk into a HP store,a and ask for the latest model of HP pavallion, im sure that the peripherals and configuration they hav are the latest and the most advanced available.....

other advantage is that u neednt wander for individual peripherals for repair .... HP is the pioneer in india

if u hav ne doubt just ask ne person having a hp pavallion machine.

dont buy a foreign or imported machine like a Dell , cuz once it gets faulty u will hav to just throw away the pc bcoz u may not get the parts here in india. my friend haf a similar experience and he had to buy a new pc.....

and one more thing, since money is not a problem , u can be very extravagent in accessories like wireless keyboard n mouse , very gud sound systems n all

i dunno what the rupee to dollar conversion rate is, but the best processor on the market right now is the AMD FX-62. (you will need a socket 939 motherboard to use it) as for hard drives, really, it doesnt matter what you get because all of them have about the same efficiency rate, but since you have the cash, go for a 10,000rpm hard drive. just as important is the RAM. go for 4GB total. i can not give you a make and model because i dont know what motherboard you are going to use and RAM pretty much comes motherboard specific.

if you are ready to invest upto 1 Lakh then i would suggest you to go for a Branded PC, like HP Pavilion, its the best Desktop and also you get warranty.

Regarding the Processor, i would suggest you to go for a Dual Core Processor, which is the best processor in market as of date.

If you go with Branded PC then you need not worry about harddisk, as the Company takes care of it and checks before its assembled in the PC.

What form of currency you using? In U.S. dollars there's no need to spend that much. Anyway, MACs use the best processor now, especially since they can run both MAC OS and Windows.

if you are going to spend so much.. then better go for the WESTERN DIGITAL HARD DISK OF 500GB AND INTEL PROCESSOR WITH ORIGINAL MOTHERBOARD WHICH SUPPORT HT AND DUAL CORE... IF YOU ARE A GAMER TRY AMD MOTHERBOARD WITH AMD PROCESSOR WITH A HIGH END PCIE GRAPHICS CARD..
