I read this book a few years ago, so my memory might be kind of rusty. The reason it is called "Speak" is because that is what the main character (I forgot her name) needs to do in order to get control of her life back. She needed to learn to talk about her feelings and problems instead of sinking into herself and not speaking at all. By being mute, she was only worsening her "depression" because she was holding in her pain and anxiety. The themes are depression, rape (a very minor theme), and speaking up for yourself.

Do your own homework. Pay attention in class and you might know how to do it. Ask your parents for help.
