In the past few weeks, gas prices have dropped in my area from about $2.89 to $2.45. That's almost a 50 cent drop in prices! There is some kind of collusion going on here. Consumers are exercising their monopsony power and driving less to drive down prices. It is predatory. I think we should investigate and prosecute those responsible. We should implement mileage controls, a minimum mileage everyone must drive every day.

It is the greed of the consumers doing this, who would rather hoard their money away than spend it on gas. Don't they know that there are families that depend on the income that their job in the oil industry provides? How will the oil rig worker's kids go to college?

This is criminal. People should be punish. We should pass a tax on savings accounts, and print more money to increase inflation to encourage spending to that the greedy don't get away with this.

One thing that might be bringing oil prices down is that people stopped driving around aimlessly in their gas-guzzling vehicles. After a while, everything starts getting old. Americans, and people worldwide should hit the oil producers where it hurts the most. Swallow your pride and admit that the high price of gasoline is hurting your budget.

It would not inevitably. Heres the deal although, the oil market is managed by technique of a cartel. we are also transferring right into a era in which the provision of oil is on the decline and there is a huge kind of pressure revolving the midsection east. because of this the regulations of furnish and insist do not quite stick with, in different words the Oil businesses are loose to take earnings of shoppers, really in view that present day society relies upon on oil. ( it is cost gouging). u.s. traditionally has been adverse to messing with loose markets ( because it will be) yet this isn't a loose market. it is in basic terms unethical, so a tax on providence salary on Oil businesses would deliver a number of that capital again to u.s. and help out economic equipment. And the tax would with any success inspire those businesses to desert their evil techniques..... besides that's my 2 cents nicely worth.

"stop buying, period. it is simple econ 101 "
This whole discussion really wasn't worth the time it took to load the page but this statement really got me laughing. Unless you live in the big city where jobs are many and supermarkets are just up the road, I don't see how one can just stop buying gas. I know I'm not going to strap my baby on the back of my bicycle to ride 10 miles to the sitters and another 20 miles to work. Maybe we should just all quit are jobs cause we can't afford to get there and just go on welfare. We could go live with the Omish I guess.

I take it that you are doing a facetious post here!!!

I know that the poor oil company executives must be just outraged at the horrible idea of a consumer not parting with their hardworking money which must be so hard for the oil companies to bear. Because how can they help the poor beleagured stock holders if they don't continue their record profits? And the oil companies will surely be outraged that my husband, who is in construction, and paying $100 per day in gas because of hauling a cargo trailer from house to house (he averages 200 miles per day in his business) can actually finally turn a profit after all these months of the recession. After all, how dare we try to keep his business afloat to support our family instead of allowing their record profits to continue? I hide my head in shame.

A .50 cent drop in gas prices, for most people is a good thing.

You have got to be kidding. Gouging is when gas prices go up, not down. But I get the feeling you know this... Mmm. Hard to tell if this is bs or not, given what I usually see on here.

If you are being sarcastic, i think i'm in love......

If you're serious, i think you're misguided to say the least.

I believe that our govt is bought & paid for by the corporations of the world. Untill they once again represent the population, nothing will be done about high fuel costs.
