Use iTunes, which can import the songs from your CD onto your computer. Make sure your iPod isn't full, and that you've checked the Preferences for anything you could have modified.

Try this: (Edit --> Preferences in the main window.)
Then click the Advanced Tab, and choose Importing. Make sure the place where is says 'Import Using:' is set to AAC Encoder. And maybe select 'Use error correction when reading Audio CDs'. I'm not sure about that, but it may be a problem with the disc. See if that solves your problem.

The iPod basically only plays AAC and MP3. The songs you are trying to put on might be in WMA format (if you imported the CD with Windows Media Player then I'm certain of it).

There are *better* ways to import a CD, but probably the easiest way would be to use iTunes from beginning to end.
