Universal Studios is awesome! All of the rides are great! I like the "men in black" ride because they give you a toy gun & you can shoot other riders! ha ha ha... The Hulk ride is really fun too. That ride has the longest line because everyone wants to ride it.
You don't need the speed pass if you are going to universal after labor day til spring break. It would be a waste of money because most kids are in school & the lines are shorter. They charge different $$ for the speed pass everyday. They base the price on how many visiters they expect to get that day. So the summer, it like $50 & winter it's like $20.
You can test your skills & be on fear factor! It's fun to watch it (I'm too chicken to go on)

If you have little kids, Disney is the place. If your a teen or older, Universal is the place. Living in Orlando for a long time, I have come to realize, (as have many others) that Disney is not the only game in town. City walk at the entrance to Universal is fun for clubs eating and shopping. Islands of Adventure is quite the place. Spend the time to appreciate the detail on each Island, listen to the music in each area. It's awesome. The talking fountain in the lost world is so funny and it has a sense of humor and sarcasm if you provoke it. Bring quarters and have fun in Toon Lagoon, spraying the water cannons at the people on the water raft ride. Dueling Dragons is a great coaster and Superman is bad to the bone. The Hulk coaster will take you on one heck of a coaster ride. The entrance, or Port of Entry has an amazing bakery and coffee shop. Note all the detail in Port of Entry. Seuss landing has not one straight line in the construction of the whole island. I challenge you to find one. Mr. East and Mr west were the first thing built in all of Adventure Island.

Definitely get an Express pass if you want to go to Universal! It gets you to the front of the line. It does cost an additional $15, but worth it unless you like standing in long lines.
Rides: Do NOT go on Posiedons Fury, Suess Trolley Train Ride, at Islands of Adventure (IOA), Back to the Future.
DO ride the Hulk, Spiderman, Dr. Doom, Jurassic Park, Cat in the Hat, Ripsaw Falls, Dueling Dragons, at IOA, ride The Mummy, Twister, Men in Black, Jaws, Shrek and anything else you are interested in.
The rides at Universal just don't match up to the rides at Disney, BUT the coasters are great!!!
You should eat at the Hard Rock and Emerils... I suppose Jimmy Buffets, but do make reservations. Also try the restaurants in the park. They serve lots of stuff... wings, turkey legs, pizza, beer!!
Hope this gives you an idea!!

Personally, I prefer Disney World. However, Universal has got a few cool rides, too.
The Hulk roller coaster is a don't miss, as is the Spiderman ride. I am not sure which park has it, but there is a water ride there (i think it features Bluto & Popeye, but don't quote me on it)That is an awsome ride- you get soaked!
No matter what theme park you go to, Universal, Disney, or any of them, take your time and explore. Many people say, "you can do Magic Kingdom in a day...". They are wrong. At EVERY park there are lots of hidden treasures, be it a lovely garden or an amazing store, or a sidewalk show. It is impossible to see and do everything.
Your best bet might be to purchase a guidebook at your local bookstore (or just go browse them) and you can get a feel for some of the bigger rides and shows that you don't want to miss. But don't overlook something because "it looks lame or stupid".
On one of our trips to Disney we got into a line for a ride simply because it was short and we want to sit down on a ride and cool off. It ended up being one of the highlights of our trip! We weren't going to go on the ride because "it looked stupid", but we laughed so hard we nearly wet ourselves!
Have a great trip!

OK, here is my humble opinion.
Go and take your time, everyone whether it be WDW or Universal try to rush there way threw and wind up being disappointed.
One way to avoid this is get a speed pass. Yes, it costs more but you save time and aggravation. If you can stay in a Universal hotel, your hotel card key is your speed pass, (no extra charge).
Another really great thing to do is the behind the scenes tour. It is not cheap but then you really do see everything, (plus avoid lines).
What to see, what not to see. Everyone has there own likes and dislikes, you will have to decide that as you go threw the park(s).
Really, go and enjoy the moment and soak it all in. Many people for years knew they wouldn't like Epcot in WDW, until they actually went there and experienced it then they accepted it and enjoyed it.

hi, Islands of adventure, with out any doubt ! more desirable proper rides (Spiderman, Jurassic Park) and great rollercoasters (Hulk, Dueling Dragons). once you're executed with Islands of adventure, bypass to common Studios basically to experience the mother... and study Terminator and adult men In Black.

"Speed pass" or "Fast Pass" which ever they call it there. Will be the best $50 (atleast thats what it was 3 years ago) you ever spent. You already spent a good deal of cash to get in, go all out don't skimp your good time.
