Occam's razor states that the explanation of any phenomenon should make as few assumptions as possible, eliminating, or "shaving off", those that make no difference in the observable predictions of the explanatory hypothesis or theory.
A modern slang expression of the same concept would be to apply the KISS principle, an abbreviation for "keep it simple, stupid!"

I know what you mean. I answered a question with a question and received , best answer. Sometimes when I put great thought into the answer, I get thumbs down, I guess it depends on who is judging your answers. Maybe it is a bunch of 11 yr olds.I know a lot of the people seem to have a 6th grade edjaumacation.!
