Why not? lol Ever seen race cars at the Bonneville flats? Records of 400 and 500 and 600 miles per hour have been broken there as well as ground sound barrier records on a regular basis .

we are all travelling faster than that even when we are standing still.
eg. the earth has a circumference at the equator of 24,000Kms. It takes 24 hours for it to rotate once - so that's 24,000kms in 24 hours which is 1,000 kms per hour.
