It depends on what you are chatting about. If it is personal, intimate things that you wouldn't discuss with your friends, then it's cheating. If you're just chatting as you would with anyone else (male or female), then it's just a different kind of friendship.

depends on if the "chatting" becomes emotional and you take it to the next level. If it's just friendly chatting I would say no, otherwise I think it may be considered cheating.

Odd that I would come upon this question after JUST being presented with this situation. My (ex) fiance' was talking to another female on the internet. They talked on and off for about a month. He asked her dislikes/likes and asked to see a full body picture. I was presented this information from the girl herself. He at first lied and denied, and after i printed a few conversations out, he admitted to it. This girl was a complete stranger to both my fiance' and myself and come into our relationship via chatting. Him lying to me about this was more deadly to our relationship than the chatting. If it feels wrong to you, it probably is. We are over because of the lying, not the chatting. Hope this helps.

I would turn the question to you:
Should married couples stop talking to others of the opposite sex?
If you do not have any undesirable thoughts other than chatting, then how can you be cheating?

chatting is not cheating..talking , kissing, and having sex with someone else is also not cheating as long as your partner doesn't find out...

It depends on your feelings and motives as well as the recipients whether it is innocent or not, if you are an honest person with yourself.....you know:-) No worries, if you are asking this question you more than likely know what is the right thing to do regarding yourself and everyone involved.

wellllll. it is definately considered flirting. and the rules on whether flirting is cheating or not depends on who you ask.
guys will always say "no way". girls however feel that flirting is defin cheating. and even if they feel that it is not considered cheating it will still put you way in the dog house for a little bit.
