I posted the following comment on a MySpace bulletin about Steve Irwin, and my boyfriend got really mad:

"If I were a crocodile, I'd be happy for our hero who defeated our number one enemy, THE INFAMOUS CROCODILE HUNTER. I'd probably go to the local lake to get drunk on seaweed with my crocks to celebrate. BUT! I am a human being, so I must stay faithful to my peeps and jump on the bandwagon by saying how sad this hunter guy's death is. (And it is. Now, if I were his wife or any of his children, I'd be devastated. AH. The beauty of subjectivism)."

He said that I had no idea who he was, that he did a lot of research, and blah blah. He has a point. I was trying to be satirical by saying that if we don't like to be studied like lab rats, crocodiles probably don't like to either. Now, I don't know if he ever killed a crocodile "in defense..." Does anyone know if he did? If he did, he was wrong, because he was in THEIR habitat. But anyway. What do you guys think or a little sarcasm?

Tell your boyfriend to get a sense of humor. If I were you, i'd hold back giving him sex for a few weeks.... Then see how the "Cockodile" hunter likes it....

Your boyfriend should be mad at you because your not very educated or bright. This is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard and you shouldn't even be posting on any site. It also sounds like you want attention which you'll get.

Every expert has said that Mr. Irwin did more to save the crocodile species than an other person on earth, and that isn't even close. He has moved hundreds of crocs from bad areas and saved them from certain death. His motto "crocs rule" is what he's about.

My space and other sites are scary because irresponsible and uninteligent statements like yours get put on the internet by insensitive, immature people that havent' a clue as to what they are talking about.

The next time you want attention just talk to your boyfriend. He seems like a sensitive and good guy. You? Not so much.

Steve Irwin never killed a croc you fool - he protected them and either relocated rogue crocodiles to other parts of the country where they would be of no danger to livestock and people or transferred them to his crocodile farm.

If you say that it is wrong to remove a croc from its territory then you have no concept of what it's like to live in North Qld, the Northern Territory or the Kimberey region in Australia. Besides, a crocodile's terriroty is not large by any strect of imgaination, they guard territories of literally the size of a back yard swimming pool..

Steve Irwin did a world of good for conservation and the preservation of endangered or near endangered species, he purchased land that housed wildlife purely so it couldn't be developed for real estate, and their habitat destroyed. His legacy of the protection of these species will be upheld and remembered. Australia (and the world) lost a bloody legend.

You really don't have any idea what he did. He didn't hurt or kill any animals. He came to working with crocodiles from his parents when he was young. They used to capture and tie them up and then relocate them to places that were safe from poachers. Steve and his family rescued crocodiles. He also had land in Australia that he bought as a place for animals to roam free, so that they wouldn't have to worry about losing their land to mankind(which is how we constantly lose animals to extinction). Some of the animals in his habitat included crocodiles. His love was for crocodiles. He was trying to show the world that we need all animals, as they are important to our environment and our world. There are so many ignorant people out there that live their lives everyday and don't give a hoot about animals. No one cares about animals anymore, we build houses, and continue to chase animals away. Check out his website. Don't know where you live, but Animal Planet has been doing a show on him.

You're attributing human reactions and emotions to animals. You've assumed that a crocodile would feel a human emotion at this man's demise and that the croc would engage in getting drunk on seaweed in a lake, which is virtually impossible.

First of all Steve Irwin relocated crocodiles and other animals to help them. He was a conservationist. Secondly I doubt that crocs have any concept of what it means to be studied like lab rats. All they care about is eating and reproducing. So not only did he not go around killing them, he did not diss them either!

Actually Irvin was a nice guy he never killed crocs.

I live in Asia pacific and watched almost all the episodes of the croc series, he not only studied crocs, but he used to research on the very ferocious Comodo dragons ( that really worst animal on this earth), Anacondas, Pythons,Boa constrictors, and yea as well he used to take care of Kangaroos in Australian terrain, so he was a nice guy, and at all if he was entering in the habitat of the wild animals, it was to gain the data and knowledge on those creatures, which would in turn help saving those creatures and helping them when they r in danger.

I'd say your lack of compassion had something to do with it..

Gotta say it though, I find your lack of compassion must less offensive than I find firemedicgm's.

firemedicgm , I suppose you are the type of fella that goes into a burning house with people inside and would ask where the marshmallows are. Such professionalism!! I'm sorry, that is just poor taste. If you have to use humor about a person who is in such dire circumstances to get through your shift then perhaps you chose the wrong line of work.

Honestly, I think that the timing of it is what threw your boyfriend off and probably many others. This man passed away and you had mentioned the word "celebrate" and so such. Perhaps much later on down the road when the "sting" isn't so new, the sarcasm could be heard, but not now. Too soon!
