With 1900 on disk free programs, http://pclinuxos.com

When installed (format in it's program, a 6 to 10 Gb partition) by clicking on the 'Install' icon, you get 5,000 free games and programs, and the system runs up to 50X faster!

Virus proof, cracker free!

No you cant. But you can make the periods between crashes very lenghty. Accidental reformatiing? How is that supposed to happen? You work in DOS or Windows setup enviorment? Or do you within windows explorer right click on a drive and say format and by the second screen you acknowledge it? Come on if you are that type of user may god help you. Don't play games and the PC is stable! What are you repairing? Hard disk last 3 years at least! Monitors almost never break down! Cd-drives if you play games alot seem to wear and tear but no total breakdown! I suggest you back up your OS data and emails etc. on a dvd once in a while or a USB memory stick and recover your system from them. You probably get viruses via the internet and they cause malfunctions and nothing else. As I understand you are gamer who is abusing your PC and later wondering why it is all happening.

A careful use can give you a crash free situation, always update virus definisions, keep the operationg system updated etc are some tips for that, dont use floppies or any other media from untrusted sources.. use a limited user account for regular work, protect administrator account with a strong password.. as the other replies to this answer say linux is NOT 100% crash free and all, it also crashes but the virus infections may be less due to less number of viruses released for linux

Yes , (don't buy a mac much less compatible), then strip down your windows xp system (then call it your own os) from everything bill gates put in there to slow you down,... you don't need it slowing it down with all his useless apps, keep it free and clean of all spyware and virus related materials, and you have a crash free pc.

I can't remember the last time I had a crash, ......oh yes I do, when I formatted windows 98.

It's east to make your PC's windows stable. A select handful of useful applicatios is all your need to scan for viruses, spyware, and other security needs.

By Data crashes, i'm assuming hard disk failure i'm sure. There are methods to properly maintain a hard disk, but always consider it temporary storage, and maintain a recent backup.

They make a computer that doesn't have those problems. It's called a MAC. I've been using the same one since 2000 with few problems, although I am considering getting a new one only because the recent intel MACS can run Windows too.

When you figure out how to do what Microsoft and other major companies can't, you are going to be very rich.

This Microsoft site might help with some of those problems.
