I need to adjust the timeing on a 84 nissian Maxima
I know its 8Deg BTDC And I know undo the bolt and move the dis- till I get to the 8Deg. But do I have to have a VAc Gauge or do I just plug the Vac line on the dis-cap? Also what side is best to look at the timing drivers side or passenger? Or is it under the car? If anyone can help ? Or give me a good web site that tells you how to set the timeing It would help me out alot
Thanks to all of you

I don't remember if you even disconnect the vacuum advance on that model, but if it is stated as procedure, go ahead, but ONLY if you are supposed to. Not ALL vehicles with vacuum advance require it.
If you do, no, you don't need a gauge. All you need to do is plug the hose. A screwdriver, small bolt, Golf Tee, anything of that sort will do.
As far as where to look, you will most likely see it easiest from the front, right (passenger) just below the fan. Pretty easy to locate.
If the marks are hard to see, shut it off, clean the pointer and index mark with rag, carb cleaner, brake cleaner, (?). Then use a little white-out on both the index line and the pointer. Makes it much easier to see accurately. Less guessing.
