If you need it to be correct, go to your local library, and see if they can get it. Most libraries anymore are linked with other ones, so what they can get is surprising. Depending on what you need it for, it would be a good idea to ask for the 1996 S10 Service Manual, and the 1996 S10 Wiring Manual. They will reference each other, again it depends on why you need it, and if free, why not? The Haynes and Chiltons are truly garbage, because the books mix the years together. GM doesn't build vehicles like that, and what was true in 1995 certainly won't be true in 1996, even if the bodies didn't change (I don't know if the body really changed, but it is an example). The Haynes and Chilton lump all years that are the same basic body style into the same wiring diagrams, sometimes roughly divided into a bit smaller year spread, but still not specific for YOUR year.

This sort of information is expensive. It comes from the manufacturer, and they want to keep it proprietary, therefore it is copyrighted.
Yo CAN, however get what you need
1) Repair manual < $20.00 at parts house
2) Go the library and copy (be careful, copyrights) from the repair or service manuals they have.
3) Ask at the library if they subscribe to either ALLDATA or Mitchell On-Demand. Computer-based repair resources, VERY good. ALL the information for your car, (not just wiring diagrams) printable.
4) Get the same material as at the library for an annual subscription here ----->

Ironhand's answer is good. Some libraries also offer http://www.chiltonlibrary.com/Index.aspx which gives access to the Chilton repair manuals online for free.
The Chilton manual on CD or the paper Haynes repair manual for the '87 Pontiac Firebird are $14. (Pontiac Literature section at http://www.RockAuto.com auto parts). I have both the Chilton and Haynes manuals for my cars because one manual is often better than the other for certain repairs.

Find a firebird chat forum on the web and check with the folks there.
Go to the library and scan some.
