Literally, we drive in from Madison around 10am and return the rental car to O'Hare at 7pm. I know my boyfriend and I can't see everything in a day... But maybe there are some things to do on a Sunday in Chicago that every traveler should experience just once, so can you recommend anything?

Go on an architectural boat tour. These go down the Chicago River and out into Lake Michigan. This is the best way to see Chicago. Even if you're not that into architecture, it's pretty interesting. You hear about Chicago history, architecture, see the city from a perspective that you never see otherwise, and just get a chance to be outside during the best weather month of the year in Chicago.

I'd say hit downtown, there are plenty of things to do like take a boat cruise or architecture cruise on the Chicago River, or on Lake Michigan. There's Millenium Park on Michigan Avenue it has work done by famous architects like Frank Gehry. You can head to Michigan Avenue by Watertower, there's plenty of shopping you can do in that area. The ARt Institute is great, its also on Michigan Avenue by Millenium Park. All of these places can be acccessed by the train or walking.

Food wise...you can try some great sandwiches and shakes or malts at Potbellys, they're all over downtown. You can either go to the Sears Tower or Hancock building to their sky decks and see all of the city from high up.

Enjoy!!

Go to Grant Park and walk around; see Buckingham Fountain, cross the road and walk along Lake Michigan. I can't remember what's open on Sundays. But surely something good will be open on Michigan avenue. Ask someone if Navy Pier is open.

Go to Navy Pier!! It's my favorite place in Chicago. When I wnet last summer, they had fireworks. But I'm not sure if that's still going on. You could also go on a cruise on Lake Michigan.
