Poulation estimated to be 192,000 to 230,000 in 2006. The city is 350.2 mi² / 907 km².

It's a city in transition. It was much bigger, or had a larger population, before the dikes broke after last year's hurricane. Many people were evacuated, some came back, others didn't. There aren't really any hard statistics about New Orleans right now, and probably won't be for some time to come.

AS compared to New York , Los Angeles, Chicago.... No Now it has about 300,000 post Katrina before we had about half a million. In the 70's we were 1 mil +. People are comming back but but with the situation here it will be a long time.
