After what we have seen of Bush, you actually think McCain is going to do better after he was voted out against Bush. Where do this people get their logic?

McCain was taken out in the primaries by FUD tactics.

McCain is a military veteran, with strong international law background, and has consistently voted based on logic and experience.

{EDIT} Granted. The point is McCain was not defeated in the primary on the merits of his candidacy.

The campaign against him said that he might not be eligible to be president, because he was born in Panama on a US military base. The implied threat was that if people voted for him, and he won, he might get disqualified after the election.

Maybe people thought that Bush was easier to control than McCain. McCain does seem to be more of an independent spirit.

Bush was the pick of the GOP machine. They knew they could run him. Now that we have the demonstrated results, who could not think that independent minded McCain can do a better job.

I may be wrong-probably, but I thought McCain backed out? I'm not republican, but I liked him. Especially compared to bush.

He offended the religious right when he dissed Jerry Falwell. I personally thought it was hilarious but obviously they didn't.
