Cocktail - Like medication, Spyware often needs a cocktail of pills to fix.

This is the way I do it.

1) Ad Aware - Gets out those Stubborn stains.
Download and Install ->
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
Run it the first time, let it update and do its thing. It does a pretty good job.

2) Microsoft Defender

(Now, I'm assuming you're using an original Windows XP copy)
Download And Install this little dirt protector and tweaker from the Big daddy of all software -->
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx
Works REAAAALLLY Well with Windows

3) Spybot
Incase Defender doesn't work out for whatever reason, try the Old man of Spyware removal, one of the oldest and most reliable Spyware cleaners out there
Install and Download --> http://www.safer-networking.org/

Have fun, and stay clean.

Here you are:

Pick and choose at least 2 from the list below. New spywares are created literally hourly, so no single anti-spyware can really detect all malware. Have at least 2 on hand and alternate scanning with each every few days or so. All are free. All can remove as well as detect.

Spybot Search and Destroy:

Ewido:

Adaware SE:

A-Squared:

Windows Defender (Beta 2):

Unfortunately, most "paid for" anti-spyware products are in fact either of limited usefulness or downright scams. When in doubt, look at the list of rogue anti-spyware solutions listed here:

http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm

And to protect your computer from ever getting infected with spyware in the first place, you can use these 2 freebies:

SpywareBlaster:

SiteAdvisor:

Consider the free Yahoo spyware removal software that comes with the Yahoo toolbar. Also, Ad-Aware and Lavasoft are good free products as well.

there is no one program that will catch them all.
google adaware se, spybot search and destroy, and windows defender. install all three and run a scan with each once or twice a week.

Also, if you are still browsing the web with internet explorer 6, stop. It's security sucks, and if you use it, expect malicious programs to be installed without you knowing it. Download Firefox, Opera, or the new Internet Explorer version 7 RC1 (release candidate one.) All three are way better than the browser that comes wth XP.
