I took the ECP (morning after pill) on tuesday the 15th of August and then started the pill on wednesday the 16th. All of this was instructed by a doctor. I started bleeding like 5 days after I started the pill, and light or heavy, it still hasn't stopped. It's not normal to bleed unless your on the 4th week, right? I'm now on the 4th week of the pill (the period week), but I've been cramping and bloated for too long now. Is this normal? What can I do? The pill i'm taking is Zovia, and it has a high dose...so this shouldn't be happening. Help please!!!

Call your doctor and report how long you have been bleeding. They will let you know if this is normal or not for the brand of b/c you are using... I was on Depo for a few years, and once a year I would have bleeding as you describe for a total of 7-9 weeks... but it was worth it not having to worry about it the rest of the year... so if the dose of hormones is as high as you say, it could just be that it is going to take a few more weeks for your body to become adjusted... call the doctor, don't stress over it (as sometimes that will lengthen the time for these symptoms).. and give it time so long as the doctor thinks everything is ok!

It is supposed to happen when you take the morning after pill.
How else would you expel the products of conception?
If you bleed excessively contact your doctor, and most of the follow up associated with the morning after pill.

3 weeks is a little excessive, even to expel products of conception. You might have a little bit of stuff still stuck inside you.

Talk with your doctor

They should arrange
(1) a pregnancy test
(2) an ultrasound
(3) possibly antibiotics
(4) possibly an appointment with a gynaecologist and for you to have a D&C (dilatation and curettage)

Contact the doctor tomorrow! If the bleeding is heavy...go the the emergency room tonight. It should not be going on this long and you don't want to become anemic
