I think people stop and stare because its like a painting, when you're walking by and you see a painting you stop and look at it, at least i do. and its especially intriguing when the painting is not on the standard canvas. You dont see this everyday. People will look for many reasons. Some will think it is a work of art, some will wonder why you got a huge tattoo. Maybe it'll remind them of there own. Some wonder why soo permanent.
Personally, I like the bigger tattoos to be on men. I prefer small ones on women or none. I think the female body is naturally beautiful and having some man made art put on it CAN be tacky. But some look really cool. But thats just me.
I hope people dont think less of you, i dont. but there are those religious fanatics or just very conservative people who think tattoos are sinful or distasteful. Also, in the jewish religion you cant be burried in a jewish cemetary if you have a tattoo (or something like that).
But i wouldnt worry, those people dont matter.

I have a cross tattoo on my back too!
I have a adorable cat tattoo on my forearm and a large cat-girl pin up on my upper arm. I'm a girly-girl too when it comes to clothing, even my tattoos are girly.
People look at me all the time and point, but it doesn't bother me.
I knew what I was getting into when I got the tattoos.
I think people with interesting tattoos look creative and unique.
If people think less of you, is their problem for being so judgemental.

I just saw your link at 360, and frankly I think your tattoo looks very good, even though I know next to nothing about you, You and your tattoo are very eye catching, made me wonder for your reason for getting it in the first place. Well I hope you enjoy it, and I think it will be a good idea to track your thoughts and emotions, regarding your tattoos, as times passes.

Best of luck.
P.S. You do look very pretty, regardless.

There is a long history about tatoos. I believe at one time that criminals were tatooed such that possibly people still respond to such negatively for these reasons. Many cultures do this because it is seen as an art form that enhances beauty. Sometime it is done to scare of enemies for warriors etc. The point is not everyone has tatoos as they can be expensive, time consuming and/or painful. I had wanted one for years but I saw a few friends go through the pain and expense of removal prior to laser removals and I decided if I did not like it I did not want to go through that. A tatoo if not forever is for a long long time. If you ar bothered by the attention then wear clothing that conceals it. Otherwise smile and enjoy the attention you look like an attractive girl and surely it adds to your looks instead of taking away from it. Just keep in mind it is often associated with counter cultures or drug abusers. For that reason after all the negativity about having many extra piercings in my ears that healed up in the military as we were only allowed to wear one set when in uniform I just never repierece my ears because it interfered in getting jobs as it was readily visible when applying for jobs. Ignorant people I did not even drink coffee at that time we went to a restaurant when I graduated with my BA and there was this lovely server who had these beautiful extra piercings on her ears I liked very much and wanted. They were uncomfortable to sleep with at night and made me cry a little when they were done such that I only have two permanent ear piercings now. But I still think they are pretty on other people. Each to his own. Most tatoos within reason I like and admire for their beauty and artwork. I think they can add to looks but I say more power to the people who can deal with such prejudices as I experienced for about a year. Make sure if you get a tatoo you get it at a good clean certified place that uses disposable needles preferably. Also if you are not into permanent tatoos Henna can be done or temporaries can be put on I have seen some great temporaries that go right over the bust and look very attractively sexy. Many people who have had cancer or surgery often do tatoos over the scars to make them look better. I have considered a tatoo to cover a scar from an operation in the past that would be very pastel and cover the scar and will look better than a scar.

Some folks have problems with tattoos. I know our religion teaches to treat our bodies as temples and not mark or defile them, but I have ALWAYS been interested in tattoos.

I don't have one yet, but have always said I will get one once I lose some weight (Southern food add pounds!).

I think taste may be more important than the actual fact of having one. I really like to look of some of the tribal tattoos. I think getting a persons name is OK too. But doing like advertisements and huge things that are lude/rude is a little over the top.

I can just imagine my grandkids saying, "Did you see that naked lady on grandpas belly, what is that thing on his belly button?!" when we go to the beach and I forget (like old folks will).

I have a girl friend who is a classic beauty. She has a lot of tats. including the word innocence across her shoulders and a large skater girl on her calf. Most ppl we know respect her for herself and if anyone were to think less of her the problem is theirs. I don't have any tats because there isn't an image that I would commit to forever. Don't worry about what others think the only respect you need is self.

First off why do you care what strangers think of you? They could be looking because a lot of people look when they see tattoos.... (I have 15 tattoos and I always look when I see tattooed people)they could be curious to see what they are, they could be looking in disgust, they could think less of you, they could be looking because your hair has blue in it (or it did in the pic), they could be looking because they are attracted to you...but bottom line in my opinion you should try not to give too much of a s*** what strangers think... as long as you love you ink and yourself thats all that matters

To some it does not represent a statement of individuality, but a fad or trend that should have died out years ago. I read a study where 60% had serious regret 5-10 years down the road. That also means many were at peace with their decisions.

i think people are staring at you just because you look unique. i've never seen a girl with that big of tattoos ever. if i saw one on the street, i'd probably look a little longer too, just to see what they are and to see if they are real! i don't have any tattoos, and i dont' plan on getting any. they just aren't for me. and if you like your tattoos, who cares what anyone else thinks! keep working it!

It is a matter of personal choice - you could have green hair, or wear wild clothes - no difference, it is just a personal statement, and I think the world is a better place with variety - be as different as you want - life is too short to carefully go around trying to be like everyone else - yuk. You be you. More power to you.
