Yep, when God created the world, She gave Russia eleven time zones.

Seriously, no one has 'always' had time zones, because they weren't developed until 1883, and then it was for the convenience of world trade. Russia wasn't one of the first four zones, but yes, today they do have eleven zones, because Russia is the largest country in the world.
Incidentally, did you know that time begins at Grenwich, England? The first line of the time zones runs through Grenwich and is called GMT, or Grenwich Mean Time.
If you are interested in the history of time zones or learning more about the different times in different parts of the world, type 'time zones' into Yahoo's search engine.

I'm sure that before anybody knew what timezones were, they didn't have 11. Heck, before phones & clocks, how would they find out? if they traveled, it'd be evening or morning by thet time they got to the other side anyway,

Wow!! I never knew that! That is really interesting!!! It makes sense though since it is the largest country in the world.

Yep, it's unique in that way.

It hasn't always had that many, it had more when it was part of the Soviet Union/USSR.
