They were both good in their respective genre of films. They had different personalities and styles. Bogart was more of a film noir actor and Brando was more versatile. The reason why actors dont work the scenes like they used to, is perhaps because the scriptwriters dont write like they used to. I lament the usage of good memorable dialogue which have become classic quotes still remembered till today. Perhaps that is why they are called classics!

Bogey was by far the best. Brando just wasn't in the same class. Maybe todays directors don't want/expect thee same depth of character, or choose to show the character differently. Do you think either of those actors could successfully use the same tactics in the movies being made today?

I don't think it is a case of who was better. My opinion is that they both were great actors.
As far as your second question goes, its obvious that the actors get paid way too much to say too little. Also, people like to see action, not hear a recital.
Also the long scenes take too much work to get done right, hence costing too much. Guess it are all about money in the end.

brando and bogey were in a league of their own.
Brando was the best exponent of the technique called "method acting" and he was the best at it.
Today actors with few exceptions just..."act" (read pretend)

I'd have to say Brando, but I love JAMES DEAN! lol I think actors and most celebrities are just in it cuz theyre narcisistics and want fame.

I would say Bogart. It's apples and oranges. Jimmy Stewart and Johnny Depp are also very good.

Most actors just aren't that good.

Bogart, because he knew how to act.
Brando has good movies but is too overrated, in general.
