I won't be the coach. But I'll be helping out at 6-8th grade level football program. I'm 22 and have never done it before. Where can I find some pointers on what good drills are to do and what to tell the players to do other than play mean(ie. kidney shots......). Just kidding. But I will tell the defensive players to make the recivers and backs just not want the ball anymore.

Nays.org is a great place to start especially with the age group you're working with.

It's entirely online...you can print up education modules...

good stuff for sure.

Have fun

I think you should have your son say something to the coach. Tell your son that if he really wants to play QB, tell the coach that. Or he can try subtly saying he wants to play QB. I played my first game with my team last thursday, and I didn't get to play much, I just tried to stay as motivated and devoted as I could be. And I didn't get to play Offense at all. After the game I asked the coach how I could be a better runningback, and he told me some drills to do and such. And they've been having me practice nothing but Runningback since.

There is a book called (I think) "Play football the NFL way" ... or something like that. It's full of NFL camp drills and things that players/teams of all ages can do.

You can tell them to hit as hard as they want; ain't no rule against that. Just make sure they understand the difference between that and playing dirty. Remember, you're not just teaching them football out there.

Sounds fun though; good luck.

C'mon. What do you think this is? Don't you know American style football is not politically correct? American sports are violent and emphasize individual achievement and accomplishment. Just what sort of N.E.A Y& P.T.A. group would allow such nationalist activities? Soccer is the only globially acceptable sport there is. The U.S.A. needs to realize that 3rd & 4th world countries know better than America.Yes. To many scores is not good. To much activity is not good. Only 1 goal per game is acceptable. American football is of the Great Satan.

************************Soccer is Socialism************************
And soccer mom's are destroying the American ideal. Husband's be leaders. Don't let your wives & children dictate what activites are acceptable.
