Nirvana would be my case example. Kurt Cobain sucked, but everyone thinks he's such a genius becuase his songs were full of bullsh!t angst and then killed himself.

I would rather say that people don't seem recognize you until you are dead. Look at at lot of great bands right now that are living and you'll see that they aren't given enough credit. Maybe its because of the media though they over-hype anyone that dies.
I thought Nirvana was pretty good when he was alive and my opinion hasn't changed but you are right others seem to have put him on a pedestal since his death.
I would say that he proved pretty well the angst wasnt BS though. Maybe thats why some people have a higher opinion of Nirvana now.

It's just the way of the world and us humans how we react to such things or the majority anyway i think he become a lot bigger once he did top himself and personally i find anyone that kills them self famous or not very weak and selfish and degrading the cheats way out and i agree i do not like his music some of the lyrics is just utter rubbish i think in one songs he says i dont have a gun or something like that well interesting......

Many musicians and artists in general have a difficult time just surviving on their art. Some give up, some get desparate. (A few do succeed.)
On the contrary I think his music is great but there is no accounting for tastes.
