I bought a 84 GMC s15 jimmy the other day, and i went to change the fuel filter, air filter, oil filter, and oil because i live in california and there's strict smog laws. didnt want to risk failing the test so i was doing this. anyways, the fuel filter is the kind where it's in the carburetor and the fuel line goes into the housing for it. i guess the nut for the fuel line was stripped and it won't go back in. itll screw half a turn and then fall right back out. i tried using gasoline safe plumber tape and sealer, it went in a little farther, but it popped right back out when i started the engine and some pressure came through. what would you say is the fastest way i could get this fixed and back on the road? i need help quick because i need to get to work, might be able to borrow a truck for tommorow but i need it fixed QUICK. help?

There is a repair fuel line available basicly a short piece of steel line with a hose on it that clamps on the old line and threaded nut to fit the filter inlet. Most fair parts stores should have these. alternatively a short steel fuel line cut to fit with a hose clamped onto it (spliced).it's not pretty but works.
A complete replacement steel line. most parts stores will sell a generic straight line and you bend it yourself.

Lets see if I understand you correctly. The carb. threads are OK it is the threads on the end of the line that attaches to the fuel filter? If this is the case you could go to an auto parts store and get a replacement line or even just a replacement nut and then re flare the end that attached to the fuel filter. Good luck.

Check the fuel line nut to see if it looks stripped. It's made of brass and, hopefully, is a softer metal than the carb. If it is stripped the only good option is to remove and replace it. If the carb's female threads are stripped you'll have to tap new threads into it and probably get an oversized nut to accomodate the slightly larger opening.

Any gadget claiming to electrify your gasoline intake may have this kind of small impression that, although if it truly works in any respect, it would want to take longer than the existence of the engine to come back everywhere on the fringe of saving the equivalent of its purchase value. Logically, if something as lower priced and easy as this gadget can make any major progression to gasoline intake the producer might want to have already equipped it as commonly used. the vehicle businesses are very smooth lately to gasoline intake and exhaust emissions so as that they would not bypass over any trick to make it more desirable proper. Petrol molecules are not fairly bothered with the help of weak magnetic fields. It honestly received't lead them to any more desirable reactive contained in the engine. it truly is not any longer basically magnetic strips that sucker people. Which? mag those days did truly a huge field try of petrol and diesel aspects and positioned that the finest of them surely gave a pair % progression in mpg and did not conceal their purchase value. In different words, do not waste your money in this ingredient. the surely ingredient which will strengthen your mpg is a 'gentle' proper foot. smooth driving with out not straightforward acceleration and braking makes more desirable of a huge difference than something else. providing that the vehicle is properly maintained for sure. i'm particular that you've been overtaken many circumstances with the help of a few flash git who thinks he owns the line and drives as if he's were given a F1 vehicle. relax guaranteed that he's saving seconds on his adventure and utilising as a lot as 50% more desirable gasoline than you; yet your more desirable comfortable driving is saving 1000's of litres (and money) in line with 365 days. something else is only a gimmick for persons with more desirable money than "means". those rubber strips that some people dangle from their vehicle to objective to stop "static shocks" do not artwork both. they don't look in accordance with an expertise of why people get static electricity shocks in a vehicle (it truly is brought about with the help of low humidity and nylon clothing/seat covers).

You might try cleaning it good and use an epoxy such as J/B.weld. a temporary fix, if not you will need to drill and tap it for a bigger fitting.
