not necessary, obviously, since there are so many divorces. But I think some people really can find the one they want to grow old with. If you want a family, normally marriage comes along with it. If you dont care about a family, why not be single and have a ton of fun that way? However, when you do get older you might get lonely

No its not necessary. You can get the same things out of life with what ever you choose. For some people marriage is right for others its not its all in what you feel and think.

Life is hard enough without marriage so why add on the extra stress. One would have to already have a perfect life with no problems financially and career wise, so that if one does decide to get married and most likely make a family, it wont get in the way.

Not really sweetie, if you feel as if you can love someone just as much as you can being married as with being single. The stay that way. But remember in some states, living together can create a "Commonlaw Marriage" so you might be married or about to be in the eyes of the state. But then again, it's about love... you don't need rings and a fancy ceremony to prove you love somone.

I wouldn't say marriage is necessary, but it does often make life more fullfilling. Day in and day out, someone is always there for you. You always have someone to share things with, do things with and laugh with, cry with, etc. You find someone whose strengths compliment yours, the ying for your yang. And then add on sex, and kids...and it's the gift that keeps on giving! I love marriage!

No it is not necessary. But to some it is very important. It is up to the individuals. It is a form of comittment that you can't get otherwise. Without it people tend to just walk away and not try as hard. I personally love it.

i don't think marriage is necessary--it very much depends on the person/people involved. some people are simply more independent and just aren't cut out for the commitment, compromise, etc. involved with the union. it should be respected, though, and if someone isn't the "marrying type" they should realize that and avoid it.

Not really.
For too long our society has been pushing marriage, especially for women, to the point where if a woman is 21 years old and unmarried she gets ostracized by society...this is wrong.
If someone wants to remain single, then that is that person's right to do so.

It is not necessary, but for some of us it is nice.
I love my husband and like having him around so marriage is good for us. It may not be your path. You will know but don't get pressured....
