Well, to those who say the refrees are just human, we all know this. But, to prevent human error the NFL had instituted an Instant replay program. All a coach has to do his throw his red flag out into the field and the play will be reviewed. In this particular game the coah threw the flag prior to the next play and NONE of the ref saw this. Did they not see the 12th man on the field? The coach threw the flag from the playing field!!!
But, a second error was made and we will once again write this off as human error. But, there are hundreds of cameras catching every single inch of the playing field at all time and it is sad that they did not simply call to the officals upstairs in the replay booth and ask the simple question: Did the coach throw the flag in time? But, some fans I guess are too impatient to wait the 10 seconds that would have taken to rectify a bad call.
As for saying the call did not effect the outcome of the game is ridiculous. The Fins had recovered a fumble the last time the Steelers were threating from the 2 yard line and no one knows what would have transpired if the NFL took the time to fix the blown call.
Now, please do not take this as ref bashing because it is not. The refs make the calls as they see them and 99% they are right on. They are human as people pointed out. But, to admit that mistakes will be made then the NFL has to institute a replay system that will work. If the mistakes are made and video evidence proves beyond any doubt the mistake was made, then fix it for God's sake. The NFL's refusal to implement a competent system leads to ref bashing.
Since the refs cannot always see a coach on the field throwing a red flag then the NFL has to change how they do replay. Put a replay ref in the coaching booths and when a teams coach sees a questionable call all he has to do is turn to the ref and say: "We'd like that play reviewed." That would end the red flag contreversy.

Give me a break here! Ya t here were a few blown calls by the refs and let me tell ya 2 major ones could of cost the steelers the game but they over came those calls.
One was the failure to throw a flag on pass interference in the beginning of the game when it was clearly pass interference without a doubt and the second one came when Batch ran and slid for the first down......he was down and the dolphin player on purpose dove and hit him with his helmet which is not allowed and should of been called as a penalty and the flag should of been thrown.
All you who want to whine and say it wasnt fair to the dophins.......well, the steelers took just as many bad calls and came out on top......Just shows who the real champs are doesnt it......GO STEELERS!

Even without Heath Miller's "touchdown", Even IF the refs' would have acknowledged the challenge flag, the steelers still would have won. There were at least 2 times the ref didnt call a penalty against miami when they should have.

Man you need to chill. It's a game. It's played by humans. The NFL continually works to make the outcome as fair as possible. But it is still an imperfect human world. Who want to watch a game where every play gets disected on every play. It would take 3 hours to get through 1 quarter.
They blew a few calls in the game. Big deal. It did not affect the outcome.

I would first like to say ...how come when people complain about the crappy calls in a game ..and yes there were way too many ... the Steeler nation fans automatically start on about saying everyone is whining.. i don't whine i get pissed off and if you was to say im whining to my face you would end up on your bottom side on the ground..and by the way the steelers team whine more then the fans do! enough said

Of course! Refs are human but we expect perfection out of them at this level. It was really unfortunate that the red flag was missed, but really, what else can be done? The buzzer system failed and now it is up to human error. And when there are humans, there is ALWAYS error. I think the Miami coach should have made a better toss of the red flag, myself. I mean, the guy is a FOOTBALL coach, shouldn't he be able to pass better than that? Looked half-assed to me.

That was a sad mistake on their behalf. How can it be missed by all of them. He should have thrown it at the ref, that might have been better.

Like blowing the call wasn't bad enough, what the hell do you have to do to get a play reviewed?! I see those red flags bouncing off officials heads in the near future.
