There is actually one very non-religious and compelling reason to steer clear of shaving one's beard and moustache.
It's called 'sleeping in just a little longer'.

By not shaving, a man can afford a few extra minutes in bed every morning. It also means that he doesn't have to worry about a five o'clock shadow ever again. Not to mention the money saved by not buying shaving gear!

Shaving gets annoying. Some people shave more than others. It's easier to trim a beard every so often than to shave every day. When i was in the Navy I had to shave 2 - 3 times a day out to sea. My face was all red and I had white bumps from shaving all over it so I tried to get a no shave chit one day. They only let you try to get one once a week So I missed my only meal of the day to go to medical directly after a watch. I had shaved four hours prior. I walked in and this black guy came out, and I politely asked if he was handing out no shave chits. He wouldnt even check me out. he said "You got no hair on your face." I told him that I had to shave because i didnt have a no shave chit and I was on watch and the rule was too shave. He then said. "Yeah, but you aint got no hair on your face." I said you arent even going to check me out. And he said "But you got no hair on your face." Then as I was leaving a black guy came in from the other side, they slapped hands, and I heard the words "I got you." Ill never take not shaving for granted. Even though I like being shaven
