Why do some people constantly harp on slavery?

Blacks were not the only slaves there were white and indian slaves also and majority of the time the slaves were treated well. There were times when slaves were let go and ended up going back to slavery because they had all they needed. Because of Uncle Tom's Cabin tha way uncle tom was treated is the only thing people have installed in their minds.

As Bob Marley once sang: In this great future you cant forget your past.. slavery no matter how the people were treated was wrong. You cant own another human being. By emphasizing the negative of slavery in the past you hopefully keep it from happening again. Same goes for the Holocaust (not all vistims were jewish) and other unthinkable things in history

i hope that you are not intentionally belittling slavery and what black slaves went through! most of them did suffer and a lot of them died!! what i dont understand is why so many people question the significance of slavery. it wasnt just the fact that black people were slaves. it's the fact that they were not considered as equals.
it's like saying that oh it doesnt matter that so many Jews died because just as many Africans died in south Africa. no mater, the race, they were all human beings! come on, have some compassion for all those millions of people that died and suffered all around the world. and those who are still suffering and dying!

Have you ever heard "get over it, and forget about it, it happened 2 billion years ago?" The truth is, I can only make sense of such comments when I realize that the people who say them - descended from individuals who LYNCHED men then posed for pictures while grinning from ear to ear with the dead bodies around them (don't believe me? go to WITHOUTSANCTUARY.ORG).

White men who held OTHER humans in bondage, who SLAUGHTERED MILLIONS of Native American and Black People solely for their ethnic "differences" and the KKK and Jim Crow and the Trail of Tears.

I mean, think about it? It is always the fault of the "oppressed" when white people do wrong. White people always try to make black people feel horrible about discussing the TRUE HISTORY of this nation because it TELLS THE TRUTH - it doesn't portray them as the pure lilly white noble "human beings" they lie about in textbooks.

WHITE people, please understand black and native American people DO NOT need your permission nor validation to discuss or remember their ancestors. It is time for YOU to take your own advice and GET OVER yourselves.

are you serious? i agree that there were other ethnicities that were enslaved other than just black people. by no means does that diminish, what was done to them when they were enslaved.
