How do I get rid of all these stupid fruit flies? I tried bombing the place, but they always seem to come up from the garbage disposer. And, now they are flying in my fruit drinks, and mating in my kitchen. HELP!

We went through this same thing last year. The only thing you an do is, bleach the hell out of the disposal, keep all foods off the counter, and take the trash out asap. We even had the Orkin Man come out, he said there isn't much you can do other than those things, and put up a fly strip. They'll die off on their own and you won't have to deal with them for much longer. It was an epidemic here I swear, even my mother who lives in the next town had the same problem. They're yucky, but they don't mean you're a terrible housekeeper. Good luck!!

I have a mild problem like yours. I made a fly trap by sticking a piece of melon rind into a container with a very small opening. They fly in and have a hard time finding their way out. I empty it outside every few hours. I change the melon rind every day or two so no eggs have a chance to hatch and mature (and for the smell.)

Your situation sounds more serious. There must be something in the disposal unit that they are attracted to and probably living on. Make it unpalatable to them. Dump some bleach down there whenever you are done using the sink for for than an hour or so.

You may need to check your house plants. They breed and live in them and fly around driving you nuts! I got a new plant that was infested (I didn't realize it at the time) and they kept multiplying! I bought indoor fly and gnat killer that wouldn't harm my plants, and sprayed the heck out of every plant I have. I also sprayed the soil. I did that every four weeks for three months, and I don't have any gnats or fruit flies any more. You can also put little white bowls of water around the house with a drop or two a lemon dish washing detergent and they will drown in it. Good Luck!

Just keep them seperate from other fruit flies and watch them speciate.

When life give you lemons, throw them in the disposal and make new species.
