It really sucks that he's dead. It makes me want to cry. There will never be another person like him. Ever.

God said we would die. Steve Irwin has passed on because it was his turn to go. We know not when or how
but our deaths will come as well. We know Steve is in Heaven...who knows maybe God has many animals there for him to care for...we just don't know but it's nice to think he is doing just that right now. He passed doing what he loved best and that indeed is a Blessing.

Death is a part of the natural cycle. All living things have to be born and in time must die.

You have learned a valuable lesson from his passing even though you may not realise it. Each and every person is unique and has a special gift to share with others. We were blessed that Irwin had the gift of communication, the gift of passion, and the gift of the sense of wander, awe, and adventure.

I swam with stingrays a few years ago off the Caymens. I was so shocked that Steve was killed by a usually benign animal. I read that there was only one other death from stingray barb in the chest. It happened to a woman in 1938. I've always been a fan of "Steve-o" and watched his shows in amazement. He said he would give his life in the cause of protecting his beloved animals and that's what has happened. I only wish he could have been spared for a few more years.

I can just see him up in Heaven working along with Saint Francis (patron saint of animals/environment), tending to all The Lord's creatures. I hope he's looking after all my pets who are no longer with me!!

My heartfelt sympathy to his family.

It's sad and still hard to believe.

But he was tempting fate.

I heard someone the other day who said that Steve thought if there ever was a possibility of something happening to him, it would be in an environment like the one he was in. The water added a whole different dimension into escape scenarios than there was on land and that worried him a bit.

He had to die because a sting ray pierced his heart and it is very hard to live under those circumstances.

Plus we suspect the sting ray of being trained by Al Queda in terrorists camps in Afghanistan. And at present the sting ray's relatives including all the little baby sting rays are being rounded up for interrogation at secret CIA camps after which they will be either transported to Guantanamo Bay or fried and fed to the troops.

This surely won't be chosen by the asker as best answer.

Steve Irwin had to die because, firstly, we all have to die, eventually.

And, secondly, he died _early_ because the odds caught up with him. Anyone acting like he did increases the odds of an early death. I think what he did was stupid, assuming he didn't really want to die early and leave his young family to fend for themselves. Come to think of it, what he did was damned selfish as well as stupid.

I asked my husband why did he have to die when there are so many guys on death row that our taxes still pay for to keep alive.
What do they contribute? Nothing but sorrow and misery. What did Steve contribute? Everything that was good.
He will be missed a lot, and I did cry because it was very sad.

Yes, I thought he was a cool dude also, but he flirted with death almost every day, it was just a matter of time, but in all my dreams, I never ever dreamed that he would die that way, from a sting ray, I always thought it would be some kind of snake!

I'm sorry that you're missing him. He seemed like a person that embraced nature and animals and truly had "fun" at his job.

My heart goes out to his family and close friends as well as it does to all people that have lost a loved one.

Honor him by watching some of his shows...and keep him and his family in your prayers.

I know. I mean--he lived dangerously, but it's so...unreal. I heard someone say that they keep expecting him to pop up on the screen and say "Crikey! You know you shouldn't get too close to stingrays...respect their space"...or something like that.

I haven't been able to think about him without getting a knot in my stomach and almost crying since I heard about his death.

Come back Steve! :(
