After such a long time it is not going to be easy or quick. You also don't say why you want to end it so that limits my answer. You have to sit down and have a long talk. Start off with the truth whether it is I just don't think I love you anymore or I am just not happy. When you start off with the reality then there is no way to talk your way out of it. You may find you both feel the same or that the other person wants to try to work on it and if you are willing and want to then you do what you feel is right.

If you've really had your fill, if you've reached the point where there is too much water under the bridge, THEN YOU WILL WANT TO GET OUT WITH EVERY FIBER OF YOUR BEING in the same way a drowning man needs oxygen. Change your phone number, sever all contacts with the person===Don't return their phone calls. Don't answer the door when they come knocking. Do whatever you have to do to extricate yourself from the relationship.

you don't say why the relationship has been on and off for 7 years. But it doesn't sound as if the relationship is really solid. I would let the relationship go and move forward.

Breaking up sucks there is no easy way to do it first of all. Second thing to remember is to expect the grieving process to stick around awhile. With every change comes grieving. It will be difficult but just talk it through with your boyfriend/girlfriend. If you know its not right...that is commendable to admit! Just look to the future with a positive attitude and there is someone else out there waiting for you alone.

Well if you've been dating for 7 years then you must be really close. I would just address to your partner that you are not any longer comfortable in a dating relationship with him/her...And be sensable about the subject.
