I've always used vinegar which works well. I don't think that it would damage marble.

STOP - no vinegar PLEASE! Vinegar will etch your marble (dull it and take off polish) You want to stay away from anything with acid or ammonia in it to prevent damaging the marble. You should never use anything abrasive either such as ajax. In fact, because of marbles delicate PH balance, you should only use neutral cleaners specifically designed for marble....these should be available at any tile store and some home centers.
You can also use Marble Poultice if the marble is stained. This is a powder that you add water to and turn it to a clay type material. You then press it over stain, apply wax paper over, set over night and then remove and it should pull out stain.
Many people use soap and water but be sure to dilute it well and make sure it has no acid (many lemon scents do have acid) but I still say buy the correct cleaner for marble. Bit more money but think of how much it would cost to ruin the stone.
Good luck

If the no longer user-friendly water has etched your marble, you will choose diamond sharpening with the help of an expert. First see if its relatively a crust or an etch. A crust or deposit would be particularly bumped off utilising a razor blade and if it hasn't etched the shine will nonetheless be there, yet whilst the shine is long previous or its no longer a crust yet an etch, you will choose an expert to repolish it - that's if the marble is mind-blowing. If the marble is honed or mat, then do away with the deposit the comparable way then basically reseal it. do no longer use CLR vinegar or something acidic as they're - as they describe Calcium removers. Marble is calcium, so once you're cleansing the calcium deposits, you may additionally do away with the marble

So far no one has a marble shower. Read the labels at the store and purchase the appropriate cleaner. Don't hesitate to contact a marble installation company and get their input.
FYI: a yahoo search using the phrase "marble cleaning" produced a tremendous amount of info. try it, and good luck.

As I have learned from other answerers, white distilled vinegar - it will disinfect & clean it - it won't hurt marble (but I haven't tried that, so try a small section first) Make sure you dilute with water, about 1 cup vinegar to 1 gallon of water. (so it doesn't leave streaks)

If you wash it more often you won't have the calcium and soap build up.
