I've been backstage many times. I used to work in an arena where a lot of concerts were held. Got to see the sound checks, too!

Yeah, I've been backstage.

I was paid to be there as a stagehand.

Mostly I just watched the show. Sometimes I ran followspot. It was a lot of fun and I saw a lot of shows.

One of my best friends lights some rock shows so I can get passes to some shows when they come to town -- I just don't have an interest anymore -- it's too much like work!

You do not mention backstage to what? Rock, Country, Classical events? Have been backstage at many classical events for the most famous. Asked (and received) their autograph on the program. Hell, I even turned pages for Leontyne Price's accompanist. However, when one page fell off and when halfway under the grand piano, that is another story.

Yes. Lynyrd Skynyrd- Southern by the Grace of God tour 1988. How we got there...black leather mini-skirts, fishnet stockings, and thigh high, 4" spike healed riding boots. The road manager sent the head of security (Wally) out to find us! Wasn't much going on back there, but we were invited to the party at the hotel afterwards. Room after room of about everything you can imagine. We had fun! The funny thing is that I had just had a baby 6 weeks before!

I did some work at Gund Arena in Cleveland the day the Eagles played there a few years back. I got to see their equipment but not them. I tried to stick around for the concert but security made me move my truck out of the parking garage.

I have been back stage to musicals. I was introduce to the actors and musicians, had birthday cake and was able to see everything that goes on. By brother works in Toronto and he sets stages up for shows, concerts, The Pope, The Queen, and RAW. He was invited to party with Woody Harrison from Cheers. I was introduce to this woman named Jackie. I forget her last name at this moment but she is really good.

Getting to the venue early and then volunteering on the stage crew is usually the easiest way to get back stage. You might get a chance to talk to the perfomer but if you try to get an autograph you will be escorted in a very impolite way.
