They were the best years of my life! Everything was fresh and new, some of the most creative years musically. The atmosphere was more free and laid back than at any other time since. Drug use, especially pot smoking, was common just about everywhere you went. This of course was a major factor in the creative mode everything went into. Everyone found out their mind went a little farther out when provoked with the right substance. Concerts were great! They were affordable (cheap) and it was usually the only way to see the band ( no kids, we didn't have videos or MTV). When we bought albums, a lot of times we went by the cover-art or by the list of players when making our decision . There was a lot of music that you would only hear if you were near the right radio station. I heard a lot of albums for the first time while visiting friends or attending parties. The great thing is is that most of the music from that era is just as popular now as it was then. I am very fortunate ,too, in that I became friends with and worked with one of my guitar heroes from then, Glen Buxton of the Alice Cooper Group, and also worked with several other well known groups from that time. As far as I'm concerned, they all have Godfather status. I very seldom hear anything now that doesn't have its roots in the 70s.

I went to my first concert in 1979--Blue Oyster Cult, Black Oak Arkansas, and UFO. My second one later that same year was Black Sabath and I think Van Halen! Only Sabath never showed up and we got our money back and got to see Van Halen for free!
I finally got to see my favorite a couple of years ago, when my son took me to see Areosmith for mothers day!! Do I have the best son ever, or what!!!

I was a nerd back then, before it got popular, but I remember the music. I couldn't afford the concerts, but I had the records. Add to the list Byrds, Moody Blues, Doors.
