No need to get your music... just replace a new motherboard!

Very interesting stuff. We purchased the same computer here through the mail, and its motherboard also self destructed after only 1 year of use. Personally, I would never buy a Dell again, the product support here in Australia is extremely poor. In answer to your question, the music should be on your hard drive which is usually separate to the motherboard. Perhaps if you take it to a technician they maybe able to recover the data. Good luck my friend.

Yes and no. If you have access to another computer, either at home or work or a friend's house (or when you get a replacement), you can connect your drive to their computer. You add it as a second drive, let them boot up their computer and then access and copy your music from the drive. But if your motherboard is bad and the computer won't stay up for more than a few minutes, that's not an option.

Probably the best thing to do , is to take the ard drive out and install it in another machine, then access the data and copy it to somewhere safe. If you are not too sure how to do this search your local classifieds for a data recovery service, which will get the files off your drive for you.

Probably if your mother board is broken you probably cant move your mouse or type in the keyboard or print out papers or photos. If your mother board is broken ummm.... i would think that you take it to a place where they fix computers (somewhere near your area) tell them this if you would... I would like you to CHANGE my computers mother board it might be expensive but.. its worth it any ways how did your mother board brake down, over heating? installing to much software? ect. But i would consider thta an opcion (ask him if he can lower the price lower than normal heeeheee). But good luck with your computer. Also probably in best buy or circuit city they sell mother boards i think but you gotta ask the person who is fixing your computer what kind and what model mother board your computer needs and reaches the minimum requirements or higher. So good luck =)

Well, take the hard drive out and back it up somewhere, an external HD or a server. The computer repair shop i go to will just transfer your data/mmusic from your hard drive to their server. If you just need a new MoBo you wont need to do that just get a new Mobo then hook it up w/ you currnet parts.

pull the hard drive, how you do this is different for different computer types and different hard drive types. I would suggest finding someone who is adept with computer hardware to help you. Basically the simple way is u pull it out of the box, plug it into another computer, and copy the info off of it.

your music is stored on a hard drive, not the mother board. connect the hard drive to another computer.

Your music is stored on your hard disk. If you take it out, then you can copy everything by connecting it to another computer. Anyway your hard disk itself is a kind of backup.

just remove the old hardrive and install it as a secondary drive in another computer. careful, you must adjust the correct jumper settings on the drive though....
