The root cause of terrorism is religious hate. One side believes they are victims and the other side is wrong and the other side feels the same way. It will never end.

Religion is but the crust on top of the deeper issue. One must question why one would turn to such a radical religion in the first place. I think the respondent that suggested poverty maybe the closest to the mark. When people feel helpless and down they will often latch onto anything that offers them hope. In a lot of cases religion prays on the weak to recruit them to their purpose.
