Rap may well be ART but it is NOT, emphatically not, MUSIC.

Music has a melodic line to it that is memorable. The definition of composing music is seven distinct notes (of melody).

Rap has this boom-chaka backbeat and a rhyme scheme with no discernable melody. Nobody hums or whistles it --nobody.

The best rapper is the one who makes the best videos, Eminem, and what's good about those videos? CHOREOGRAPHY for his dancing to the boom-chaka.

So it's a souped up ceremonial drumming ceremony! Accidentally including the Bardic initiation rites of Druidism (answering extemporaneous questions in rhyme).

Yeah, that's ART but it isn't MUSIC. You know what music really is? There are nine muses, Greek spirits who inspire us with artistic ideas. They flutter around us and talk to each other. We don't understand their LANGUAGE, instead, we HEAR music, the language of the Muses. Muse + ic. It's defined by a melody of seven or more UNIQUE notes.

Rap is ceremonial chanting and dancing -- and that's a different art form. It's also why it hasn't dethroned rock.

Rap is talking to a beat, singing is staying on tune, both have music as guide. Different strokes-for-different folks. I personally don't care for Rap because of its origin. (street gangs, drugs,etc.). Even country has its rappers. Most Rappers can't carry a tune, most singers that can carry a tune-can also Rap.

easily, they are idiots. song is song. what's next? Bach and Beethoven isn't song because of the fact there is no singing? Come on human beings. for hundreds of years song did no longer have vocals in any respect. So why could the undeniable fact that somebody is conversing or singing or screaming or growling make a distinction in what's song and what isn't. song is approximately beats, melodies, chords, and notes. it is not approximately singing or rapping. And rap is in actuality an artform. isn't poetry paintings? that's what rap is. it is poetry set to a beat and song..
