You have received some really good answers. I would add that a real southern belle did not show her cleavage if she was from a proper home or until she was married.Don't forget the drawstring bloomers or you will have a heck of a time going potty with all of the stuff on that they wore! I dressed my daughter once the same way and couldn't find any black lace up boots to use. I finally got black roller skates from a 2nd hand store and took the wheels off! They worked great! If you buy boys you will need a size smaller than you normally wear. Like if you are a 7, you will need a boys 6. Have fun with your costume!

The typical "Southern Belle" dress would be the fancier of these dresses, like 4510 or 5724. You would also need to make all the proper undergarments which have been mentioned above, especially the "hoop skirt" petticoat: 9764 and a corset.

well I know that they wore long hoop skirts but not petticoats. Also if you're doing this for a project (oral) you should put on a southern accent. i'm from texas if want to know. i hope that helps!

petticoat then a corset then a full gown. then there is a cover to the gown then a blouse then a shawl. you should also have a hat and parasol/lacy umbrella with matching gloves.

You need a hoop skirt! The bigger the better. Cleavage also helps -- think Gone With The Wind...

Corsets, lace up ankle boots with a heel, parasol (fancy umbrella for shade), gloves, fancy hair do.
