reconstruction? of what? work buildings? is there some major topic out there about reconstruction? coz i dont know about it. sorry. but if i were of a city rebuilding frame of mind, i'd say that those that benefitted were the ones that actually lived there. you know, its just the ones that actually got to use the outcome of the reconstruction. not the ones that worked on it, physically or mentally (plans and carp). and not the ones that funded it.

There's not enough information to correctly answer this question. The most famous period of reconstruction, at least in US history, was in the south immediately following the Civil War. I would have to say the southern citizens were the greatest beneficiaries, because their cities and economy were rebuilt. In addition, it helped forge a single nation once more...and patched some of the rift caused by the war.

i believe the south benefitted more from post civil war reconstruction. since most of the fighting occured in the south, there was much more destruction of land and property. even though the north had "won" the war, northerners were responsible for most of the cost of reparations. the war was hard on everyone, but southerners lost their way of life. many plantation owners faced bankruptcy and were forced to sell their land because the freed slaves were valuable manpower. the reconstruction period gave many people a new start.
