I've met quite a few people whose names "fit" them. There appeared to be a "chemistry" between the name and the person's character.

Rockville, Mildred may not be a sensual name, but it means mild strength. So, if she's a hot babe, her strength could be a combination of genetics, and personal determination to be fit...hot.

Jorge, if theory could be applied to your opinion, it could be possible a person changes their name due to their change in character or mind set, be it positive or negative.

Niki, thanks for sharing that story. The man who did such an experiment must have had a name to mean evil, or something to that affect.

In reading your story, I noticed the man used nurture to demonstrate nurture can influence behavior as well as the spirit of a name.

it's funny that you brought up that question because my sister made a similar comment a few days ago. i think that some people really do go hand in hand with their name. there are some who don't match the name they have at all. my ex had a really dorky name. when i first met him, and found out his name, i giggled cause he was so cute but his name was not!

Why would he have posters in his room at 40? Also, I have met black women named Susan who go by Suzie. I am Mexican, 100%. My dad has Native American art in his home. My mother is maybe 1/8 Cherokee, but other than that Mexican. So... why would he do that? Probably to take PRIDE in what little he does have. I don't portray photos of any people in my home, not even my family photos hang on my wall. Does that make me a terrible Mexican? No. I wouldn't focus on his children. My father has seven children by two women. Having three kids didn't stop my stepmother from marrying him and giving him four more. If they are young and he has a problem paying child support, perhaps take THAT into mind. Other than that, don't make his children an issue. I feel like you're fishing for a reason to not be with him. Edit: Actually, my mom and dad were never married. Mexicans are white to the Cenus Bureau, so we aren't close to Native Americans except. SOME of us have dark skin. My husband and son can pass for non-Hispanic white. Don't you think calling someone, "Mrs. Mexican" is racist? If you couldn't read my display name, copy/paste.

The name obviously influences the behavior of its owner rather than vice versa. Names confer expectations that they will be lived up to, or conformed to.

Boys with masculine names are generally more macho acting than the boy named Sue or Beverly (with notable exceptions, of course).

No. There was this man who tried this experiment, to see whether a name would influence a child's future. He had two sons. One was named Winner and the other was named Loser. He doted on Winner and gave him everything. Loser was neglected as a child. Guess who grew up to be a criminal and who grew up to be a respected sheriff? Winner went to jail. Loser is known affectionately as Inspector Lou. This is a true story, and it happened in US.

I've felt that way too. It seems like that a lot. Like the name Cassie.. spelled differently, but I know several people with that name and they are all odd and gay, lol.

And I've met other people.. with my name.. that look like me and acted like me when I was younger.

i dont think so. my name is alyssa. but i tell people to call me ally because its more spunky and attitude filled than my actual name, and fits me better. but other people think that ally is cute, instead of edgy. but its also the way i spell it. people think that im friendly coz i spell it like 'ally' but in truth, im an in-your-face jerk. i think that because ive met so many people that think my name is pretty, that ive actually rebelled and said to myself that i was going to be the exact opposite of what they expect. so maybe it does have something to do with a personality.

I have to disagree with that theory. Anyone once they are over 18, can change their name.
