I get bladder infections quiet often and I am just curious that instead of running out to the doctors to get medicine is there anything that I can do at home to help sooth some pain?

Me and my boyfriend have a very active sex life and the doctor said that it was probably the reason why i get them all the time. He said not to pee before having sex, only after.... I find that too hard to do. I get the infections on average 6-8 times a year and is becoming another stress in my life. I cant stand crannberry juice but have never heard of tablets. Gonna try that.
Still looking for different ideas so keep them coming, I appriciate all your answers and looking foward to others.

I get them too, and so does my sister. She buys a product called Azo from the pharmacy area at her drug store, but Wal-Mart or Wal-Greens would have it too. She swears by it. As for me, I take two Tylenol and I drink lots and lots of cranberry juice. To keep it away, I make sure I drink at least 2-3 glasses a week. Seems to help me a lot. Good luck with that.

Well, most bladder infections caused by the friction in sex is cystitis. You can get cranberry tablets here in the UK, and also drinking loads of water, I mean loads! Everyday. Peeing after sex is good advice. It flushes out any toxins that may have gotten in during sex. I know it's hard after an orgasm, I have trouble sometimes! But, just give yourself a few minutes, then go. Bicarbonate of Soda twice a day is good for getting rid of the infection. It tastes foul, but is good.

Cranberry Juice works well, but it is impossible to get 'pure' 100% juice. The juice extracted from Cranberries is so thick, it is mixed with water to thin it. The most cranberry in juice is usually 25% with the rest being water. It works just as well.

Also, Grapefruit is a citrus fruit and contains acid, so don't use that, it will irritate it more.

Boy...they are a burger , At times feels like your whole insides are coming out and all you do is pee about a 1/4 tsp. right? You must drink water until you cant drink no more. Cranberry juice can help. No more then a half of cup of it is really al you need of it anyway. But you must get some antibaiticas cause it can lead up to urenariy infection then threw the blood stream./ dont want that.!!! It will slowly go away. I know its a bummer espesically when you feel like you got to go and nothing comes out. The bruning doesnt help. Just keep good hygeine in the lower area. Reason its coming back cause you got antibyodics and didnt finish them all till they are gone. Do these things and you should be peeing light yellow again instead of the dark and cloudy. Sorry about the graphics. But hey, IT Hurts! Good Luck.

Drink LOTS of water, and as the other reply said, cranberry tablets, or drink cranberry juice. It helps to keep the germs out of the bladder. Antacids sometimes help, too (like TUMS). There is an over the counter medication called Cystex, you can get it in most drug stores, which relieves pain and also has a little bit of antiseptic. Sometimes, very slight bladder irritation can be relieved with that, so it won't turn into a full-blown infection. Sometimes, they are caused by irritating the urethra during sexual intercourse. So, be careful about that, and even drink water afterward, so you can urinate and flush out the bladder then, too.

I have suffered from them since I was about 8 yrs. old. I don't go to the doctors anymore. When I feel one coming on, I start drinking lots, and lots of water( A tall glass every hour). Don't drink any drinks with acid in it, like orange juice, carmel colored sodas, etc. Cranberry juice helps too. What you end up doing by drinking all the water is flushing out your system. It may take a couple of days but it really works. If no relief after a week, get to the doctor for a rx.

drink lots of water and cranberry juice. The water flushes the irritants out of the system and the cranberry juice, I believe, kills the infection....or, it could be just another great flusher. Definitely cheaper than going to the doctor all the time. As for the pain, warm sitz baths are nice, too, but I would be asking ur doctor why you are getting so many? Afterall, there actually might be a different underlying cause.

Drink 100% pure cranberry juice if you can stomach the taste. And drink a lot of water. The more you go to the bathroom the more bacteria you can flush out.

Both can help and sometimes cure the infection. But if it is persistant, then head to the doc and take the pills.

I suggest the all-natural supplement Optiflora that will treat the cause and not just the symptoms as most meds do.

This advanced, two-product system uses new technology to protect beneficial microflora during the rigors of shipping, storage, and the acidic journey through your stomach. Other products claim live microflora at the time of manufacture. Optiflora guarantees the delivery of live microflora to your intestines.

This two-product system includes Probiotic (Bifidus & Acidophilus...microflora) + Prebiotic (FOS...food source for microflora). Patented guaranteed delivery of 500 million microflora to intestines.

Also might want to consider Garlic Complex which is a natural antibiotic.

Hope this is useful and for questions or the website, feel free to contact me.
