My downloads are often at 320k bits ber second, but 192k is all I can adjust the burn rate up to. My computer easily recognizes these higher rates, and it burns at these rates for Nero, but not with XP.

What do you mean "with XP"? Don't you mean "with Media Player"?

I'm assuming you do. You must be overlooking the format setting. By default, Windows Media Player uses the WMA format (which is Windows Media Audio). This format is not the same as MP3. It only goes up to 192kbps which is comparable to 256kbps for MP3.

If you change the format to MP3, you will see a setting show on the slider for 320kbps.
