I really like him i have for like ever his mom and my mom are best friends. I think he likes me but i'm new to this any tips?

So do you really know him as in you guys are good friends or do you just know of him for that long?
When you are around him, just find some way to bring up the conversation about dating. Like, "hey, did you know that Kim is dating Bryan now?" I was kinda shocked, they seem so different from each other. So, if you could have the perfect girlfriend, what things would you look for? Would you want her to be just like you or opposite? Asking this question in this way will lead him to give you an honest answer without him ever thinking that you are drilling him. If he mentions anything that pertains to you, then you'll know that your his type of girl.

Observe how he acts around you. Does he give you special attention lately? Has he been making excuses just to spend more time with you? Y'know that sort of thing...
Another good indicator is the eye contact & body language if he's playfully brushing his hand against yours, etc.
Just take a deep breath, wait for the right moment and... go up to the guy and tell him how you really feel.
Be realistic though, if it backfires. It probably wasn't meant to be.

just say the words. even if he doesn't come across with the response you hoped for, you were brave enough to ask. i say just be honest. who knows, he might feel the same way. what is both of you are afraid to speak up, you will look back in ten more years i regret your decision. you will always wonder, what if.

just be yourself. he will like you for you.
smile if it is natural for you in his presence.
the best relationships are built on commonality and honesty.
learn to be his friend and he may be receptive.
do not push it, just let it flow.
