what trigers people to make a huge decision?

Question

what are the possible trigers for a person to make a giant decision as going to a realesate agent to look for a new house.
i am not asking about why he will do it(need for security in example) but what are the trigers and motives that he will enter that office, why didnt he get there a day earlier, or a day after?
if it were you, can you remember what made you do the move(sunny day, good mood, bad mood, color of your socks) , if you know an article that discusses this, please give me a reference.

After researching a project to the point where I'm comfortable with the facts I'll make the move. When exactly it happens is more a question of if it feels right than anything else. Nothing like weather, clothes or anything like that. (We are talking about changing jobs, or making a major purchase like property, right).
