Is it humanitarian to kidnap people and hold them without charges like this only for the RNC? My dad fought in WW2 and he said the German prisoners co-operated with us because we treated them better than Hitler. Do you think torturing people will win their "hearts and minds"?

Give me a break ............ You could care less about winning the hearts and minds of people ,tortured or otherwise. What you want is a soap box to cry your liberal BS and bash Bush in the process.

In World War 2 soldiers wore uniforms and identified themselves. Prisoners of war were easily identified by their uniforms , identification papers , love of country and knowledge of the Geneva Convention .

Today we are dealing with terrorists that hide behind women and children and blow themselves up dress as civilians while walking down the street or riding on a bus. Terrorists cut the heads off their prisoners and ignore human rights and the Geneva Convntion while laughing at your defending their rights.

There is no winning a terrorist's heart of mind as they are wrapped up in his ideal of the after life - not the future or even some type of peace for the generations to come.

Definitely. Just like Homeland Security Agency.

In 2002, Bush suddenly reversed himself and started yelling and screaming that Congressional Dems were blocking creation of Homeland Security Agency. How? By opposing it until Sept. '02, then holding a press conference similar to this week's, and then yelling to anyone who would listen (which is to say the idiots who voted for Republicans in '02) that he wanted his Homeland Security Agency RIGHT NOW!

So now, after stalling on torture legislation and insisting we don't torture anyway, he comes along and says we need legislation defining what we can and cannot do to terrorism suspects - and it's September with elections in 2 months, and you watch and see if he doesn't start screaming that Congressional Dems are stalling on legislation related to what to do with all these prisoners that have come out of the CIA gulag.

No! I think they were held for our security!
It's really a shame when your government( Nazi's) treat you so bad , you will give up to your supposedly enemy.
What do you mean by torture, Our boys should have to undergo the supposed torture, they were under. A hood over the head. How about a long machete at your neck and being told they will cut off your head. and they did ! That's torture!

Absolutely not...He had do what he did to gain as much information as possible from these terrorists..............Look at all of these answers...........No one has any idea where we would be if Mr. Bush would tell "you" what he is going to do and when and why...........No president would do that. You jeoparadise so much . You have no idea what it takes to be a president...There is so much riding on your shoulders, and you have people like yourself and other always questioning your every move.....One day you will thank Mr. Bush for the way he is handling his presidency...In the meantime try not to criticise so much.....On the other hand I am so glad that everyone is paying attention to our government and what is happening in the world....Just try to be more open about things.....We are living in historical times right now...........

KIDNAP? Are you on drugs? These are the higher echelon of al qaida! They're enemy combatants for Gods sake!! And not for nothing, he is serving a second term - how the hell is he gaining politically by this?! I don't know where you're from, but some of the info gleaned from these fleabags may have saved your city from being blown up! They're not slowly beheading them as they have done to our civilians and soldiers captured! Why don't you go bark up that tree, eh? Maybe you, in all of your enlightenment, can win their "hearts and minds". Oh, and for the record - that statement was made regarding the Iraqi people in general, not al qaida. We don't want their hearts and minds - we want them DEAD!!! Wake up already!

Politics are rather silly. No matter what a sitting president does, people think the worst. What can he gain? He is in his second term and last. I think the worst thing that has happened to our country is the success of the press. 50 years ago the public didn't have to know everything as soon as it happened. We could accept the idea that our government was doing what was necessary to protect our way of life. Thanks for that, Media!!!!!!!!!!

What does it matter what we think? You are only looking for affirmation of your opinion.
Your Dad was correct, many POW's that were here during the war actually came back and settled in the US. Don't compare what we are doing today to WWII. We were dealing with soldiers then, not terrorists. It's a whole different kettle of fish as they say.

Dick Morris claims that President Clinton's national security adviser, Sandy Berger, and the president himself 'were both responsible for failing to catch or kill Osama bin Laden on several different occasions. How do the liberals respond to these facts... with "blame President Bush" lies.

Could be. More likely they were afraid of a pre election leak that would require a squirming explanation. It was smart to disclose it. All the libs can do is call it an election gimmick and cringe.
