Check of course of that the games you want to play are not imported from Japan, or you'll have to add a chip, to be able to use them.

You can play most ps1 games on the ps2, but some of the rarer games don't work on the ps2 console. There are more that don't work on the "slim" version, and less that don't work on the larger versions. You can find the list of all that games that don't work
