My lashes are thin and short, and for years I've used mascara and not been thrilled with the results. So my adventures with false eyelashes are limited, but so far I hate them too! It seems, judging from how pretty they look in the box, that I could be pleased with the results if I had some pointers. First, should they be applied before or after shadow and liner? And where should they be placed? I find that putting them too far away from the lashline interferes with the eye makeup (not to mention makes them look obviously fake), and putting them to close to the lashline causes clumps of real lashes to fall off with the fake ones (not good!)! Is there a magical place to put them that should work? Does anyone have a favorite brand? Should a special remover for the glue be used? None is ever included! Or is it really better to just shell out the extra few bucks for super-duper humongous mascara? Any ideas?
Thanks for your help, ladies!

Any false lash will work. it doesnt matter if they are cheap or expensive. You want to do all of you eye make up BEFORE you apply the lashes,(shadow, liner AND mascara) You also want to curl your lashes to help blend in with the fakes. Then apply the falsies. put a thin layer of eyelash glue on the edge, and let it partially dry for a minute. You dont want it runny or goopy.
To apply,
dont close your eyes, just look down. If your lids are closed they will wrinkle and that makes it an uneven surface to apply to. take your tweezers and hold one edge. Start with the outer edge of your eye and place the falsies as close to your lash line as possible. (this is why the tweezers work well) Once the outer is place, follow the contours of your eye for the rest. They wont fit all the way to the inner eye, but that is ok, they arent supposed to. Just make sure they end right on your lash line, or it will be noticeable they are fake.

You can also buy half lashes, or cut the lashes to just go on the outside. These are more natural looking and easier to apply. If you need anymore advise feel free to email me!
Most importantly, practice practice practice. You wont get it the first time, but eventually you will be a pro!

I always have problems with mascara smearing so I tried the false lashes. The ones that come in a strip are hard to apply and hard to keep in place(one of the ends always tries to come up) but the ones that come in small clusters of 3 or so lashes are Much easier to apply, you should buy the special adhesive for individual lashes. These stayed on great for me and looked pretty natural. You apply them as close to the lash line as possible. These can be worn for 2-3 days at a time if you remove other eye makeup gently. When it's time to remove them there is a special remover you purchase. The remover is a thin liquid into which you can dip a small brush and gently brush over the lashline until they come off-working with the brush I did not lose any natural lashes. The individual lash adhesive and remover can be purchased at a beauty supply such as Sally Beauty Supply, you may not find the remover at a drug store.
Lastly, there are some salons that will apply individual false lashes one lash at a time for around $20. I have not tried this yet but I have a friend who did and raved about it. Those individual lashes applied by a salon should stay on from 2-3 weeks.

I actually put vasaline on my lashes to make them softer and thicker (it works but slowly) I suggest you curl your lashes first then apply the false ones (use the little tufts only, not the ENTIRE lash ones) right above your lashline like the eyeliner spot. After that, put eyeliner on (go on top of the false lashes if you have to, sometimes the glue is dries white). Then apply the rest of your makeup, I found that this works pretty well without looking fake at all. Good luck!!

i HATE HATE HATE fake lashes however i have worn them a couple times... i have learned to apply light mascara 1st then the fake lashes THEN the eye liner bc then you can create a new lid line on ur eye to help mask the lash hem.

i have crappy lashes but i have found that the XXL lash stuff from maybaline i think lol i would have to dig it out to get the right one comes in a black and white tube works fantastic! do a couple coats of the white end and then the black or whatever color and it works wonders

Don't use false eyelashes until you find out how to use them. If your eyelashes are small and thin then just use a lenghthing mascara, if you like it or not. Then next time you go to a hair dresser ask for a way to put them on with out messing up your complexion. Maybe fake eyelashes aren't your thing.

DONT USE THE KIND THAT COMES WITH 2 SOLID STRIPS, GET THE ONES THAT LOOK LIKE 3 OR 4 EYELASHES GROUPED TOGETHER USE CLEAR EYE GLUE AND APPLY TO EYES AFTER FOUNDATION BUT BEFORE EYE MAKE UP, THEN LIGHTLY CURL WITH EYE LASH CURLER AND APPLY MASCERA OR YOU COULD ALWAYS GO TO A SALON AND GET THEM TINTED

The cheapest ones that I've seen where there is a lot of variety were $4.00 and from NYX. They have a pretty amazing selection for super cheap.

Don't buy super dooper humongous mascara. It looks terrible. It's not worth your money, you'll look better with your natural eyelashes than that garbage.
