I think everyone has there own method of coming up with songs. I usually start with the melody that goes with a chord progression. Then I add words to the melody. As far as the notes you sing when playing a chord progression, this is difficult to explain in short. There are so many combinations! If you sing the same note as the chords change you get one "feeling". I have learned that the more complex the chords you play, you will come up with melodies that you hear in the progression. Without knowing your experience with your guitar, It's hard to answer this question. If you are playing very basic chords and progressions, you will inevitably get "stuck" in a melodic rut. Music is very complex and simple at the same time. You must present something to the listener that is familiar but unpredictable to some extent. I would suggest some basic music theory. The rest is just emotion. Go for it!

i am not sure what is your question. Are you asking for some new songs to play or sing? Try No Doubt, Evanescence, Sharly Crow, Avril Lavigne, Lean Rhimes, Six Pence Non the Richer..

for the singing note, it's not right to sing the same note as the chord but it's pretty close if you know what note to hit to sing along with the chords. In the chord structure, there are a few notes that is composed of to become a chord. So when you sing, you have to hit either one of the notes of the chord, basically. but sometimes it's exceptional. any way, listen more of the song that you are going to sing or play and evetually you'll get it right both to sing and to play.

try this. Close your eyes, picture the song in your head, listen to the song in your head the way you think it should sound, then try singing it a few times outloud the way you are hearing it in your head, then try playing the music with it after you have the hang of it. Works for me.
