Think about the time long ago when civilization was basically agricultural. People lived by sunrises and sunsets, and the seasons of planting and harvesting, and cycles of winters, springs, warm days and falls. They saw the moon go thru different phases.

Then they realized that there was a pattern in nature.

In daily lives, they needed to trade with each other for other items. So they needed a way to represent the value of things, and to find a way to make equivalence of things so that they could trade - for example, a fur coat might be equivalent to 10 logs of firewood.

Slowly but surely, math was born...

Today, we have computers to do all the tedious work for us. We are used to all the modern conveniences of life. And math becomes a little more remote to us.

Mathematics governs not only the things in nature but also in economics, society, engineering etc. It's everywhere about us, tho we may not know so.

If I could live my school days again, I'd pay more attention to math (rather than goof off). Math is important, tho admittedly more distant to the man-in-the-street due to the advance in technology.

Math good. Learn math!

True not all math problems and equations are in everyday life, but they do apply in everyday life if you plan on working in, architect, physics, science, chemistry, biology, construction, cashier, manager, mechanic, stocks, accountants, doctors, nurses, and well any actual money making job besides flipping burgers. Even at that job you need to know how to count the degrees to not burn the hamburger. Numbers are part of our everyday life and mathematics in every form, either Algebra, Geometry, C++, or plain addition. It is in our lives and mathematics needs to be taught. It is everyday life.

We use it everyday. Think of all the times in each day you use numbers or estimate something. Every time you exchange money, you use math. you use math when you control your house temperature, measure a window for curtains and estimate how many you will need for each window. Cooking, clothes sizes, gas mileage. i know these are basic things, but if we never learned, how would we know how to do these things?

I wish i were a better communicator so i could stress the importance of mathmatics, but I am not. I would not be answering this question though unless I felt very passionate about mathematics and its primary role in our everyday lives. everything is mathmatics. we are constantly calculating. study it and you will see what I mean!

Because you'll use it every day. For example, when you shop: how much money do you give the cashier and how much change should they give you. How much longer until your favorite TV show comes on.
